Remote 1-year contract, intent to extend Start within a month

Data Visualisation Engineer

We build the dashboards a business opens every morning, on Power BI, Tableau, or a self-hosted front end. We are hiring a data visualisation engineer to own that work: defining the KPIs, designing the screens, building them, and handling the changes that follow. AI is part of how we build, and part of how you would work day to day.

What you would do

  • Own the dashboard from the requirement call to a live screen. The data model, the measures, the layout, and the mobile view. On Power BI or Tableau, or in code where the client wants to own it.
  • Define the metrics before drawing them. One primary metric per screen, each KPI defined once in writing, with target, actual and variance calculated the same way on every page.
  • Design screens that are quick to read. Clear hierarchy, considered use of colour and space, and the right chart for each question.
  • Work across the Microsoft and Tableau stack. Power BI (Desktop and Service, DAX, Power Query, semantic models, paginated reports, Copilot), Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, dataflows, pipelines), and Tableau (Desktop, Cloud and Server, LOD expressions, Pulse).
  • Handle change requests through a clear process. Requests are logged, priorities are agreed with the client, and approved changes ship quickly and keep to the shared definitions.
  • Keep dashboards fast and well governed. Performant models, row-level security, refresh schedules, gateways, workspaces and deployment pipelines.
  • Use AI as part of the build. Copilot, Pulse, and tools like Claude and ChatGPT to draft measures, queries and layouts, with your own review before anything ships.

How we work

  • Remote, with flexible hours. Some overlap with IST for client mornings.
  • A small team. You work directly with the founders and with the client's managers, and we keep our decisions and definitions written down.

What we are looking for

  • Dashboards you have built that a business uses regularly, on Power BI or Tableau, ideally both, and that you can walk us through.
  • Strong SQL, and comfortable working in a data warehouse.
  • A good eye for design, and able to explain your choices in plain terms.
  • AI as part of how you build, with examples you can show: Copilot or Pulse, and tools like Claude or ChatGPT for measures, queries and layout.
  • Available to start within a month.

Helps but not required: Fabric certification (DP-600), Tableau certification, React or Python for self-hosted builds, experience with consumer goods or distribution data, familiarity with the India timezone.

Terms

  • One-year contract, remote, with the intent to extend. Start within a month.
  • Paid as a contractor. We pay the full amount and you handle your own taxes.

How to apply

Remote, one-year contract with the intent to extend. Answer the three questions below.

  1. A dashboard you have built that people use regularly: a link, screenshots or a short writeup, and the main metric on it. This is the first thing we read.
  2. Make the case, for or against. We could host the data on our own server, hand the build to AI, and put the front end in plain HTML or React. No Power BI, no personal gateway, no per-seat licences. Is that the fast version of everything, or does it break somewhere? Tell us what you actually think, in a paragraph.
  3. Your earliest start date and your expected salary.
